CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL TEAMS

The 2008 Vics has now passed. It set a new record for competitor registrations. A very big thank you to all our staff and referees who worked tirelessly all day to achieve a very smooth running championship.

Congratulations to the winning teams in the Junior, Female and Male divisions.

We appologize to all the competitors in the Novice No Gi Open. The category was miss laid and at 8.30pm was abandoned. Any competitors who were registered in this category and have concerns, please email us.

AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONS CUP 2008

Al States must complete their State Championship prior to the 31st August 2008.

Medallsts from the 2007 Aus Cup, 2007 Pan Pacs and any approved 2008 State Championship will qualify to compete the in the 2008 Aus Cup.

The 2008 Aus Cup will be held at The Aurora Sports Stadium, Main Road Newtown, Tasmania on the 4th October .

2008 VICTORIAN CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITORS PACK ONLINE NOW
Just select events and down load all the information. All member academies will recieve the "Competitors pack" including posters by Australia Post between the 7th and 11th of April.

REFEREE INDUCTION COURSE

All those interested in becomming a certified AFBJJ Referee should attend the "Referee Induction Course".

Everyone is welcome to attend - 1st Floor, 179 Barkly Street, St.Kilda Beach. Wednesday the 30th April from 6.30pm to 8pm.

We would appreciate referees from as many different academies as posible - It makes sense that each academy has at least one certified referee, a referee, who knows all the current rules in depth.

ALL STATES TO HOLD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

All States must finalise their State Championship by the 31st August 2008.

The Australian Champions Cup which attracts competitors from all over Australia who have qualified as a medallist in any 2008 State Championship, 2007 Pan Pacs or 2007 Aus Cup.

The Aus Cup is committed to travelling to each State to grow Jiu Jitsu at a grass roots level. This is in line with a long term growth plan contrary to the short term gains that would be made in having the Aus Cup rotate between the big markets of Melbourne and Sydney!

Where possible, please support your Australian Champions Cup. It will be the vehicle for Australian Team selection in the event of Olympic trials and or other Australian Representation.

REFEREE INDUCTION

Anyone interested in becomming a National Accredited Referee should contact the AFBJJ Inc soon as there will be an induction course prior to the 2008 Victorian Championships (3rd May). The details of the course will be issued in March.

All frontline Referees for the 2008 Vics who will also compete will have their full competitor entry fee withdrawn!

note: Payment to referees dissolves their protection under the AFBJJ Inc. insurance cover - making them possible targets for litigation! As "Volunteers" All Staff and Referees have full protection under the AFBJJ Inc. insurance policy.

  I don't know if I'm sending this to the right address, but its the
only one I found on the site, so:
I came from interstate to compete in the Pan Pacs on the weekend, and I
just wanted to say thanks to the people who organised and ran it. You
guys obviously had a huge workload with the amount of competitors
involved, but from my point of view it all seemed to roll on pretty
smoothly and I and my mates had a great time. Very good atmosphere and
lots of fun. So thanks for helping to make our visit such a good one.
You deserve a truckload of beer.

2007 PAN PACS THE BIGGEST EVER!

Everyone in attendance was amazed with the amount of spectators present and the amount of competitors. The event was very hard to manage due to the huge numbers so the 2008 Pan pacs will be run over 2 days.

Congratulations to team John Will Black Belt Studios for entering the largest team - great effort!

Congratulations also to all our magic staff and referees without whom, this kind of championship could never be run.

THE BIRTH OF A NEW AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL JIU JITSU CHAMPIONSHIP
Since the inaugural Pan Pacific Jiu Jitsu Championships in 1999 took over from the earlier version of the National Championships, there has not been an official National Jiu Jitsu Title in Australia.
